Situation of Youths in Wajir After the General Election

In Kenya After every five years, the general public exercise a Democratic right to elect up to six different leaders, namely the president, Governor, senator, member of parliament, and the seat of the Women representative and finally the seat of the member’s County Assembly.

 The 2022 general election has attracted a lot of candidates including many young men and women who hope to hold the power of the country and the region but some of the young men and women have not been able to win while others have been able to rise or win After many times attempt.

 Alinoor Yussuf Hassan is one of the youths of Wajir who ran for the position of member of County Assembly Barwaqo which is located in Wajir town on August 9 but lost it. 

In an exclusive interview Ali Noor first discussed the results of the election and the way it was done, He told us that most of the youths and women have not been elected because they have no money while some were being turned down because they were hailing from a minority tribe 

On the other hand, Ali Noor, talked about the opportunities that young people have, so far. In conclusion of the story, the general public was Advised to think about their future during the election period and to nominate a person who is active in the community.

On the other hand, women have been disadvantaged by the negotiated democracy by locking them from leadership. A former nominated Member of the county Assembly Hon.Rukia Abdullahi laminated on this.

According to Ali Noor and many young politicians in the northern part of Kenya, the local elders influence the general elections as a norm.
